Ben came out of the bathroom, fully dressed but still toweling his hair, 'Dang hair holds water too long.'

He threw the towel into the bin, 'Anyways, I'm all clean now. Let's go. I wonder who your teacher'll be?'

He picked Erika up.

Erika clung onto Ben, not wanting to leave his arms. 'Daddy? Don't we need food?' She asked.

Erika nodded, and hugged Ben. She still held Kitty, in a death grip.

'You'll be fine. I'll be there with you. I wouldn't leave you.'

Ben walked out of the HQ and down the street, the school was a low-lying, brown brick building down the street.

'It's in there.' He pointed.

Erika stayed still in Ben's arms. She eyed the building, and snuggled closer to Ben. 'I'm scared daddy.'

'You'll be fine. I'll be nearby. Besides, I think we've seen the teacher before.' He thought to Erika as he opened the front door.

He sighed, so many memories of when he was a kid.

Walking down the hall, they neared a colorful door decorated with rainbows, suns, hearts and smiley faces.

'Little extravagant, don't you think?' He put his hand on the door knob.

Erika stayed in his arms. She wasn't very happy. She caught some of his memories, and snuggled closer. She didn't like it here.

Ben opened the door, 'It'll be fine, Erika. I'll be here with you.'

Parent and child walked into the room, several of the kids ran around Ben's feet laughing at the top of their lungs.

"Jeez. Gotta watch out for the munchkins, got to be careful I don't step on any of them." He said aloud.

A woman on the other side of the room stood up straight from helping a small boy with his shoelaces, her auburn hair done up tightly in a bun, she wore a purple blouse, and tan pants.

She turned to face them, her green eyes sparkled in the light, "Ah, Mr. DaVine. I believe we briefly met at the hearing, I was on the jury."

"Yes, I remember quite well. White blouse, blue cardigan sweater, and... casual slacks."

She clapped, "Very good memory." Turning her attention to Erika, she said kindly, even her eyes smiling, "Well, hello there. You must be Erika, the very lucky little girl to have Ben here as her daddy."

Whispering to her, he said, "She's a telepath. Just thought I'd let you know."

Erika whimpered, and buried her face in Ben's shoulder. 'Daddy, I'm scared.' She told him. 'I don't know how to act around other kids.' Her whole body shook.

Ben stroked her hair, 'Well, you're going to find out.'

Turning his attention the teacher, "Mind if I sit in on a few classes, for Erika's sake, uh...."

"Mirriam. And I don't mind a bit."

"Mirriam, thank you."

"Besides, I already have a few parents sitting in."

Ben grinned, he knew that he liked Mirriam. And she was beautiful too. And judging by her hands, not married. Ever.

Erika stopped shaking, but she kept her face buried in his shoulder. Him stroking her hair soothed her. Projecting her thoughts to everyone, she said, 'Hi.'

Mirriam jumped a little when she heard Erika's voice in her head, "You weren't kidding when you said that she was a telepath. Personally, I'm a light-bender. Changing the properties of light, and all that. But, I had an X-test, and i think I might be in for an additional power soon."

"So far, I'm just a telepath. But I think, I'm on the edge of another, myself."

All the kids in the room looked up at Erika in surprise, all in unison, they said hi back verbally.

Ben put Erika down, 'Go play. You'll know where to find me.'

((Mirriam's just an NPC, not going to bother with a profile.))

Erika grabbed his pant leg, and stayed beside him. She looked at the kids, and they looked at her. Erika was nervous, and didn't know what to do.

Ben sighed and laughed, 'Erika, just go play. Everyone here is nice, trust me.'

Erika let go of his pant leg, and walked over to the toy bin. She kept a firm hold on Kitty, while looking. A kid behind her saw Kitty, and grabbed it. Erika screamed, and hit the boy who had grabbed Kitty. He let go of it, and she took it back. The boy hit her back, and made a grab at Kitty again. Erika took the hit, and kicked him between the legs making him go down. She watched him laying on the ground crying. 'My Kitty.' She said, and walked away to the other side of the room.

((you gotta love her when she is pissed and protecting her favourite toy, Kitty.))

Ben laughed as he watched Erika kick the snot out of one of the kids, "That's my kid." He walked over to her and put his hand on the top of her head.

Erika hugged his leg, and smiled. Looking up at him, she cocked her head. 'Me in trouble?' She asked.

Ben walked back to where he was sitting, chuckling all the way.

Erika skipped behind Ben. 'Daddy, play with me?' She asked him.

The kid she had beaten up came up behind her and pushed her into a table. Kitty went flying and landed at Ben's feet. Erika tried to get up, but the boy had pinned her, and was punching her in the back. Erika screamed, and jumped up, making him fall to the ground. The boy quickly recovered, and jumped her. Erika was once again pinned, and was on her back. The boy started to punch her in the face. Erika wasn't able to withstand the attack, and blacked out. All she remembered was the pain, blood, and the look of murder in the boys eyes, than everything went dark.

Ben's eyes simply flatlined. His mind suddenly became razor sharp, the child began to float into the air and hooked him onto the flag in the room. The kid went limp, unconscious.

He picked up Erika, "Blasted kid. Deserves what comes to him."

"I am really sorry, Mirriam, but I have to go."

"It's okay Ben, go. I'll meet you at your place to check in on her. Unfortunately, everyone knows where you live."

((Decided Ben telepathy could include one more branch to it.))

Erika's mind was ablaze. She didn't know why. She felt like something was happening to her, or around her. She felt her mind on the edge of blacking out completely. Her body unconcious and limp, but her mind still alert, she tried to figure out what was happening to her, and to try and wake her body up. Erika started to panic as her mind started to seal up. She threw up a defence to keep it open, but found it hard. She could feel herself slipping.

((she is not dead. her mind is closed, and her body injured. make sure you get kitty.))

Ben closed his eyes as he leaned against the school wall, focusing his mind he slowly wormed his way into Erika's. Using much of his strength to hold her mind open.

'Erika, can you hear me?'

Erika heard his voice. 'Daddy.' She said, her fear in her voice. 'What's happening to me?' She was panicing, and could still feel herself slipping, but being forced to stay alert.

'I don't know. I'm using my mind to keep you from slipping into unconsciousness. Apparently that kid was a lot stronger than everyone thought. Don't worry, he's been put up on the flag pole.'

Erika started to calm down. 'I love you daddy.' She said, her voice barely audible.

Ben smiled and began to feed his energy into Erika, hoping her body would use it to heal, 'I love you too.'

Erika felt Ben putting his energy into her. She felt all glowy inside, and her mind became sharper. Her body healed it's wounds, and she awoke. Her whole body started to glow, and she felt something inside of her change. 'What's happening to me?' She asked again, as she glowed brighter.

'I really don't know.' He thought to her as he put her down.

Erika's body started to change. Her legs grew and arms grew. Her body became leaner, and breats started to form. Her hair became longer, and her hips widened. The glow of her body went away, and in the place of a 6 year old child, was a 13 year old teen. 'Daddy?' She asked, her voice changed from that of a child, to a young lady. 'What happened?'

((i had to make her evolve or the body glow would have seem strange. if you want me to edit this, please tell me.))
