Hermia smiled wider and accepted the rose.

K lay on his back up above on the shore of the lake. He couldn't swim because of his weak lungs, but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the sounds of the lake as he watched the sky.

Jason smiled. Inwardly he blushed slightly.

Swimming back up to the surface, he looked at K, "Everything okay, K?"

K looked at Jason and said "everything's fin up here." Hermia waved and said "join us!" but K shook his head and replied "can't swim"

Jason hauled himself up onto the deck, his body oddly dry, "Tell-" He was suddenly cut off as he dodged a brilliantly blue bolt of lightning as it struck the deck, leaving a charred hole in the wood, "What in the name of..." He looked up at the darkening sky, "That's weird, the camp's supposed to be protected from the weath...Oh, Styx." He muttered as the air shook with thunder

He watched Chiron suddenly go flying by, carrying a greatbow, saying, "No, no, no not again!"

Holding his hand out to Hermia, "Come on. I've got a bad feeling about this... Don't worry about the water, you'll be dry as soon as you get out."

Hermia took Jason's hand and allowed herself to be pulled out. As she marveled over how dry she was, K fumbled to get his face mask back on. Very nervous, K asked Jason "What in the name of Styx is going on?!"

"I don't know, but if Chiron's up in a dander like this, I can only guess... Come on." He began jogging in the direction that Chiron was.

Edward groaned in pain as he pulled himself and the unconscious satyr over the boundary line. His clothes were ripped beyond belief, blood streamed down the right side of his face from a nasty gash that crossed his temple. Dragging himself another foot, he fell unconscious.

Chiron found Edward prone in the grass, the satyr across his back, "Oh my..."

Jason pushed his way to the front of the crowd that was forming, "...Chiron? Is he..?"

Chiron shook his head not knowing how to answer.

Hermia bounced on the ball of her feet, anxious to know if the new guy was ok. Alastor gently made his way to the front, went to Chiron, and asked "may I be of some assistance?"

"Ah, Alastor, yes." Putting his hand near Edward, he jerked his hand back as lightning arced from Edward's body, "As I feared. Alastor, try to pick up the satyr and get him to the infirmary and bring back a stretcher, I'll have someone help me get this one to the infirmary."

The angry howls of a multitude of monsters from beyond the boundary sent chills down the spines of everyone, including the kids of Ares.

"Styx..." Jason muttered.

Alastor lifted the Satyr onto one shoulder and went to the infirmary. He came back with a stretcher and let Chiron do his job. He wasn't at camp very long, but he knew his place when new comers came injured.

Chiron with Jason's help lifted Edward onto the stretcher once he was sure that Edward was fully discharged, "Jason, can you help me get him to the infirmary? Hopefully when the satyr wakes up, he'll be able to tell us what happened."

"Of course, Chiron." He picked up one end of the stretcher.

Edward moaned as a wave pain made it's way through his body. Chiron and Jason carried the stretcher to the infirmary, Jason in front. Jason back at Edward, Could he be..?

Alastor followed the duo to the infirmary. He had almost forgotten he was in charge of taking care of Jack.

Chiron and Jason lifted Edward from the stretcher to one of the beds, Chiron sighed, "Jason, go let everyone know that the newcomer will be alright. And that free time has been extended until dinner. I have a feeling that this might be another Thalia..."

Jason gulped, he had heard the story of Thalia, the daughter of Zeus who Zeus turned into the grand pine tree that rested on the boundary of the camp.

Going back to the milling crowd, he relayed the message, but restrained himself from divulging the last part about Thalia.

Alastor looked over at the new comer and said "if needed... I don't mind being the next Thalia," he finished checking over Jack and turned to face Chiron with a smile "the gods know I've been here longer than my fair share."

Hermia breathed a sigh of relief and said "I'm glad he's ok"

Chiron chuckled, "Remember Alastor, Thalia was transformed into that pine tree out on the boundary by her father Zeus when she sacrificed herself to get two other demigods and a satyr into the camp. A sad tale to be sure."

Jason walked back into the infirmary and flopped down into the nearest available chair, "So now it would seem that I have two cousins now, assuming this guy is from Zeus."

Chiron, "I'm almost certain of it, when Thalia arrived, her presence kicked up a wicked storm, just she was just conscious at the time, he," pointing to Edward, "was out cold when he crossed the line. And he shares a few similarities to the big god."

Edward's eyes darted around wildly under his lids, something plaguing him within his mind.

Jason sighed, "At least he's breathing."

Alastor shook his head at the story and said "forgive me, I sometimes forget details in my old age." When Jason came in he took a seat beside him and, noticing his unease, asked "what's troubling you?"

((Alastor hasn't told anyone this, but he is actually 124 years old. So, as a gag, he jokes around like he's an old man))

Chiron chuckled, knowing what Alastor meant, "Granted, but if I weren't a centaur, I would be considered ancient."

Jason shook his head, "I'm fine. It's just...it feels so weird to be connected to someone through a family member that you've never seen hide nor hair of."

Alastor chuckled and said "I understand. Though, it must feel terrible for the son of Hades. The way he speaks... it's as if he is convinced that everyone hates him for his lineage. Then again, the daughter of Hermes seems like an adequate distraction"

Nodding, "There are some who hate me for my lineage what with the near war of the Gods a few years back." He stopped suddenly the words finally dawning on him, "What do you mean by 'adequate distraction'?"

Jason shook his head, like trying to clear water out of his ears though he never knew the feeling, "I'm...not following."

Jason stared at him for a moment slackjawed, then it clicked, "The heck man!" He turned his face away from Alastor and blushed furiously. He didn't say anything, he didn't trust his own mouth now.

"It still is. A majority of the young ones back when I was a foal were just as slow." Chiron chuckled as he slowly dripped a spoonful of ambrosia into Edward's slightly open mouth.

Jason blushed even harder, not looking at anyone he got up and walked out of the infirmary. Once outside, he sat against the wall and sank down so he was sitting, knees up to his chest. Putting his forehead down on his knees, he closed his eyes, trying to get his heartbeat under control.

Taking a deep but silent breath, "It's...nothing."

Jason took another deep breath, one, he wanted to tell Hermia about how he felt for her, but at the same time, he didn't want to ruin their friendship should something go wrong between them.

From inside the infirmary, Chiron called, "Jason! Hermia! The satyr is awake!"

Standing up, "Come on. I want to know what this guy's story is." He walked back in and gave Alastor a smart smack on the back of the head and shot him a look that said, 'Say anything about our conversation and I'll feed you to Cerberus.'

Hermia smacked Jason after he smacked Alastor and gave him a stern look that said 'don't smack people'

Alastor stiffled a chuckle and approached the bed.

Jason shook his head as he sat down in one of the chairs.

The satyr sat on the edge of one of the beds, his abdomen completely wrapped in bandages, tiny horns could be seen among his short, curly brown hair.

Chiron crossed his arms, "Go ahead."

The satyr took a deep breath, "He's," He motioned to Edward, "Edward Zythys. I believe he's the son of Zeus."

A sharp intake of breath came from Chiron.

Continuing, "I convinced his mother to let him go after the Furies attacked them in Central Park, in plain daylight, no Mist, it seemed that the every creature in the Underworld was sent after us, even Cerberus was sicked on us." He pointed to his bandaged shoulder where the edge of what looked like a bite mark could be seen poking out from under it. He looked at Edward, "He's a sweet kid. Kept wanting to throw himself between me and every monster that came our way."
