Echo stood in her room getting ready for the day. Finishing putting on her armor, she walked out of her room, to the training facility. There she shot targets, and practiced her hand-to-hand combat skills.

Shade went into the training room after Echo and practiced his accuracy with a sniper rifle, trying to keep his skill up.

Seeing Shade, she went to him, and practiced with him. After awhile she heard shouts and murmurs of "Chief". Turning around she spotted her father, having his armor repaired.

Shade feels Echo turning around and looks over to her. "What is it, sis?"

Echo turns and looks at Shade. "It's just dad." Shaking her head, she turned back, watching her father. "Everyone respects him, and looks up to him. I want so much to be like him, but I'm not a spartan like you, or him." She sighed in frustration.

Shade gently places a hand on Echo's shoulder. "Hey, it's okay. At least for you, you're a higher rank than I am."

Echo laughed a bit. Turning to her brother, she ruffled his hair. "Thats because I'm older than you." Shaking her head, she took her gun, and fired at the target, hitting it dead center between the eyes without looking. "Higher rank sometimes means nothing. Being genetically created does have its benefits though." Echo still remembered the story of how she was created without having a mother, and remembering the process as she watched her brother being created.

Shade chuckled as he lifted his sniper rifle up with a single arm and, while admiring Echo's gun, shot the target in the chest.

Echo chuckled. "Still accurate as ever." She said, admiring her younger brothers talent. Looking at him from the corner of her eye, she sighed. He looked so grown up now, and acted more like an adult, they both did, as they had never really had a childhood.

Shade sighs. "That shot would only be a kill on a Jackal, a Grunt, a Skirmisher, or an Elite with its shields down. Other than that, I could be spotted and killed by my target with that accuracy." He lowers his sniper and looks at his sister.

Echo looket at Shade, and smiled. "Well then you better not get shot." She smirked. Hearing footsteps behind her, she turned and saw Master Chief behind her. "Father." She said, nodding in greeting.

Master Cheif looked at his offspring, and smiled, even though he knew they couldn't see his face form behind the helmet. "Echo, Shade." He said. "We have a new mission."

Echo stood at attention, and nodded. "Yes sir."

Shade turned to face Master Chief. "And what exactly is the mission, sir?" He puts his sniper on his back and puts his helmet on.

Echo put her own helmet on, her guns, and sword already strapped to her armor.

"A dangerous one." Cheif replied. "UNSC intelligence has ordered us to rescue six scientists, who were kidnapped by the covenant." He looked at both of them in turn. "Your skills are needed on this mission. Cortana is coming with us."

Echo saluted her father. "I'm in, as always."

Shade also salutes. "I'm always up for a rescue op. Especially with you two. One question though."

Echo turned to her brother, and cocked her head. "What is it brother?" She asked.

Cheif turned towards his son, and waited for his answer.

Echo looked at her father.

Chief shook his head. "Only us four. Echo, myself, Cortana, and you."

Echo shook her head. "Sounds like the usual."

"Great. A comfortable team. Alright, let's do this." Shade reaches down and picks up an extra clip for his sniper rifle.

Echo and Chief nodded. "Lets do this." She said, and followed her father.

Shade follows Echo and their father. "Is this going to be close-quarters or open field?"

Cheif didn't turn around to answer his son, he merely kept walking. "They are being held in a covenant ship."

Echo caught her fathers tone, and wisely kept quiet. Something was bugging him, and she knew better than to anger him.

Shade had also caught his father's tone and had turned to a private COM channel with his sister. "So it's close-quarters. I hope you're willing to keep me hidden."

Echo smirked. "Of course brother." She responded. "We're a team."

Cheif was lost in thought as he walked to the shuttlebay. He had a feeling this mission was going to be harder than the rest.

Shade unsheathed his knife and ran a bare finger along the blade, blood trickling from the fresh wound. "Perfect sharpness. Good for slitting the throat of a fully armored Elite."
