Left Behind

In a safe room in a small warehouse in downtown Toronto a group of survivors wait and plan a way out of the city and to Philadelphia, the 'Clean City'

Natan watched through the bars of the safe room door. A smoker was heard earlier but had gone quiet so he wanted to see if he could spot it or see if it left.

Natan was found a few days ago, wandering the streets after surviving relentless horde attacks. He was saved from a smoker just before it could strangle him. Natan still bares the bruise around his neck.

Jacob leaned up against the wall of the safe room, eyes closed and cradling the FN SCAR rifle in his arms, his backpack leaning against the same wall to his right. He had been found in the corner of a store tending to his wounds after a horde attack; many of the wounds were still rather fresh.

Deciding to speak, "You might want to back away from the door. God knows what out there could reach through the bars."

Natan shook his head and replied "God can kiss my ass. Right now? I'm more concerned about the smoker that seems to have vanished"

Jacob chuckled, a rare thing for him, "It probably got tired of waiting for us to come out and wandered off."

Opening his eyes, he pulled the cartridge out of the rifle and inspected the ammo count, about a quarter of the bullets were spent and he knew he had about four more cartridges left in his pockets and six in his pack. Putting the cartridge back in, he groaned and stood up, holstering the FN SCAR behind his right arm, picking up the backpack, he strapped it on. Making sure the pistol holders on his belt were still there and the machete was there as well, he looked around the safe room and checked his watch, "We had better vacate soon, it's noon and those freaks get edgy during the evening and night."

"yes, because it's so quiet during the day" Natan replied sarcastically, readying his desert eagles.

Jacob cocked his head to the side as if to say granted, "Let's hope to find another safe room before night though, last thing I want is one of those damn tree frogs (Hunters) from getting either of us."
