He's just a rare type of elf. One that has never set foot out side of their community. And whenever someone finds them they either convince the person to leave and move or they kill them.

So basically, these elves are loners similar to the Mancers. And anyone that finds them will either be turned back or killed? Am I correct in interpreting this?

Pretty much. When they move on they leave no trace that they were ever there. I guess you could say they trust outsiders even less than Mancers do.

And rather than sleep, these elves regain energy by eating. So Keen is going to seem like a gorby-guts.
